The new Government procurement guidelines for construction projects over $9 million come into force on 1 October 2019. The aim is to set new guidelines to improve behaviour of government agencies, and the progress the aims of the Construction Sector Accord.

I recently heard of a project manager on a Government project gloating that it was a win when the construction company collapsed after his project was completed. With so many large projects in trouble - late, over budget or incomplete - what does a successful project look like?
All too often, designers and yards get themselves into conflict over who owns "copyright", what designs have been paid for, who can adapt the designs for future vessels, and whether or not a royalty is due.
It is all too easily avoided by recording what is agreed at the outset.
